Money is a budgeting app built on one idea: you should be able to answer "can I afford this?" in about two seconds, without opening a spreadsheet and without handing your bank login to anyone.
You set what comes in, give every part of it a job, and log what goes out. The home screen shows what is left — this month, by category, right now. That is the whole loop, and it is deliberately small enough to keep up with.
There is no bank connection, because there is no server that could read your finances even if it wanted to. Your budget is encrypted on your device before it ever syncs, with a key derived from your password that we never receive.

Set your income for the month and divide it into categories. Money tracks each one against what you have actually spent, so overspending shows up while you can still do something about it.
Bills that stop surprising you
Recurring bills are tracked separately from day-to-day spending, so the money that is already spoken for never looks like money you can spend.
Works with no signal at all
The whole budget lives on your device. On a plane, in a basement, or with your phone in airplane mode, it opens instantly and works exactly the same.
Accurate to the penny
Every amount is stored as whole cents rather than a decimal, so the totals never drift by a penny the way floating-point money quietly does.

Most budgeting apps stop working without a connection because the budget lives on their server. Money keeps the whole thing on your device, so it opens instantly and works anywhere.
Budgeting without linking your bank account
Linking a bank means handing your transaction history to a third party. Money asks you to log what you spend instead, and holds no key that could read it.

- Does Money connect to my bank?
- No, and it never will. Connecting to a bank means a server that can read your transactions, which is exactly the thing this app is built not to have. You log what you spend, which takes a few seconds and keeps the data yours.
- Can you see my budget?
- No. Your budget is encrypted on your device with a key derived from your password. What reaches our server is a blob we hold no key to. This is the same model Bitwarden uses, adopted in full.
- What happens if I forget my password?
- Any device that still has the budget on it keeps working, and you can reset from there. But if you have lost every device and forgotten the password, the synced copy cannot be recovered — we hold no key that could open it. That is the honest cost of nobody else being able to read it, which is why Money can export an encrypted backup at any time.
